Sorry but there is a difference between Communist Political ideals and economic ideals. Marxism as a political ideal is crap if you ask me because the only way to implement it is f you give up some fundamental rights. As an economic model it does not work that well in practice either. Communism is a perversion and a corrupt model of a relativity good idea. Communism does not work, perhaps Marxism would work but I do not want to live in that society.
As for social security, this did not get us into the spot we are in now. A lack of support got us into the position. It is spurious reasoning to simply remove all funding for a program and then say it no longer works. It is natural for a non-funded program to fail. There is room in our society for this "socialist" ideal. We need to support those who cannot support them selves. I am tired of this idea that those who are on social security or any social service are lazy. My Mom will never work another day of her life, my Father has been dead since '87 and it is these social programs that have allowed me and my Mom to live. Without them I would have had a life of work trying to only support my Mother. Instead it has allowed me to get an education and better myself. Our society is Liberal and yet in some way it is Socialist in that it takes care of those who cannot take care of themselves. And please do not give me "you parents should have saved" or been better prepare, my father was 37 when he died and no one is prepared to leave anything for their wife and young child at that age. We need to support social programs because it is the only way the poor and less fortunate can get out of their poverty. The gap between the rich and the poor keeps growing and the administration means to keep this gap growing.
