While I do agree with you on most points, I do have an objection to this one:

I can tell you for a fact that in Marine Corps bootcamp we are hammered on the Geneva Conventions constantly. It was literally part of our daily routine, one of many that in the future prepare you for combat. (Such as reciting the UCMJ constantly through the day, or even as simple as holding your hand over your milk when you walk thru the chowhall saying "Gangway, live grenade!")
The problem I have with the media reporting is that you never know the full story, as you weren't "there" yourself. Such as when the Marine shot an "unarmed man". After reading the reports of the days activities, and what had just transpired, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, I would have shot him too. In this war especially, a wounded enemy can still kill multiple soldiers. The enemy is known to use suicide attacks on a daily basis, thus even a wounded enemy is a threat, and he damn well better not flinch while I've got an M16A2 trained on him.
