The biggest thing is, make sure your headlights are clean; a bulb upgrade won't satisfy you if a hazy lamp robs output.
The silverstars have a great color as well, imo.
I searched but couldnt find what bulb you put in the high beam slot . . .

For the 98+ guys, I know High beam is 9005 and low beam is 9006. I believe that is the same for pre98s.
So for more output and better color you can put 9005 silverstars in the low spot; but a tab inside the base will need to be ground down or cut off...a proper search will provide info.

I am working on it, & yes us pre-98 guys have the same. But that one post I quoted said to put the 9005 in the low beam spot. So would you again put a 9005 in the highbeam spot or somethin else is what I am asking? I did a search and it didnt go over to well.

I think I'll go with the 9005 Silverstars and cut off the tab to stick them in the low beam slot. The car already had nicer bulbs in the highs, so I'll just keep those in there and forget about keeping them all the same brand. Thanks for the input! Next question...what about fogs? One of them is burned out. Should I just go with the Silverstar 893s? I don't want to mod it or put overwattage blubs in or anything. Just higher quality bulbs. Are Silverstars good for these too?

I love my Silverstars. Even when my headlights were foggy/hazy,I still had great light output, but after cleaning them it got clearer. I currently use in my '98, 9006 Silverstar low beams, and 9005 Sylvania CoolBlue high beams. I like the Silverstars on the lowbeam because they are very bright and I have great visibility with them, and then flick on the highbeams to the CoolBlue's and it lights up the road for miles ahead withan intense bright white light.
I'm so impressed with these lights that when I trade my '98 Mystique in next friday,I am taking the bulbs out, putting the oem ones back in and putting the Silverstars/CoolBlue's in my new '95 Contour.

The high beams already have 9005s in them....you don't need to touch them if you don't want to. If you are content with the output of the highs as is, leave them alone; if not, you can upgrade to silverstar there as well (same bulb....9005).

Actually im pretty sure that conversions that are not DOT certified, such as my Retrofit.
My dads Retrofit for his A4 (before they started using hids) is also not 'legal' since they were not origional equipment.
