I'm gonna be paying $2500 for a brand new paint job next spring (before sz hopefully, if there is one ) the guy will take off all the hardware like bumper and side skirts, down to the jack covers also and paint my car to make it look brand new. I figured, if I'm getting a new 3L, might as well go for a paint job and get the car brand new! we'll see what happens though

however, i would insist said hardware come off...especially for a color change...and double especially for $6k! That's it. No insults, no trash talking here.
actually if you were getting your car painted by a "real" painter you wouldn't be insisting on them doing anything...they paint the car the way they do it...they don't need someone that don't know jack about painting to tell them how to do their job....

they may do what you want as far as some things ,but i can guarantee you that no "real" painter is going to have you standing over them while they are painting and barking out orders....a "real" painter lets their work speak for themselves....no one in their right mind will let someone stand over them and tell them to do things their way if they don't know jack about painting a car...a real painter lives by their work, their paint jobs are what makes them, you don't think they know what to remove or not to remove you want to tell someone how to paint something you might as well take your car to maaco..

haha thats funny, thanks for the laugh and brightening up my day. while i would think one take the door handles off when painting the car, ive seen and heard seriously bad ass custom car painters contradict each other before. ive seen painters taking every single little thing off to where you think they wont be able to put the car back togetherk, to guys who paint it all together and it comes out show quality. and these are from painters who's cars have graced the pages of car/truck mags. anywho, i think the paint job looks pretty sweet. i think it would look better with just the two-tone and not the middle stripe. i think the way it is, is more suited for a sport truck, but that's just my opinion. we'll see what it looks like when its all back together. regardless of this painter's prep methods, the paint looks sweet as hell. you can never go wrong with HOK paint. i dont think any painter worth his salt would put this kind of effort into a job knowing that it was going to deteriorate real soon, especially when doing a job for a friend. your bro-in-law is one lucky SOB to have a car with a tits paint job at 17!

hey it is not a rose color it is the same color as the 99 expy EB dark Maroon i had to lighten up the pic's to get them to show up good so the colors are kind of washed out a bit.
like i said i will be getting better pic's of it soon and i will post them up when i do. i also got word from the painter that he has all the clear done and it made the HOK candy come alive and it really will turn some heads now.
i just have to wait to get the car on the 7th because i am having my 89 lifted Bronco custom painted by him and i will drop off the bronco and pick up the contour..
thanks for all the comments on the car.

they might do what you want but let me tell you will end up paying lots of $$$ if that is not the painters way of doing things.
also the other reason for me leaving the handles in was we were going to do part of the design over them and if you have ever layed out a design on a car it is a PITA to do with out parts the parts on the car and you will almost never have the edge line up right.

the part YOU don't understand is that a real painter is NOT going to have you standing over him telling him what to do while he does his job, jesus do you really think someone is going to let you in the friggin' paint booth with them while they are painting your car.....
a real professional would not let you stand over him while he paints...he gives you a price shows you his work and paints the way he paints you either agree or not,its pretty simple...
like i said maybe you should try maaco if you ever decide to get some paint work done, maybe they'll let you tell them how to do their job, wait i forgot maaco doesn't prep before they paint so that may not be a good option for you..
