Ok guys this past weekend was the big day and the car now is painted and it will be cleared tonight and then buffed and on the road it can go.

The car was painted by my good friend that runs his own shop at his house called DC Customs in MN

The pictures dont show it as good as it looks but the top is black and the bottom color is a deep maroon with high metallic in it and the strip is a silver base with marbleized sprayed over it and a HOK candy sprayed over that.

Let me know what you think. I will try to get some pics of the car in march when I got it. The car hit a deer and pushed the rad support back into the motor and I had to weld in a new core support and fix the body and a few little door dings. Also the car use to be gold, and I did it for my brother-in-law this will be his first car.

Here is the link to the pictures

I'd also like to see many many good pictures of it when it's finished. In the sunlight.

Yea I will get some pics of it when I get it out in the sun

Also I did not want to take the time to pull the door handles on it and I did not see a need to have the bumpers off when painting them I have done a ton of different cars and I have never pulled them and I have never had a problem.

You all have to remember I am doing this for my 17 year old brother-in-law and I did not take the time to do some things.

hey man, i'm not trying ot offend anyone or anything...and i don't know much about automotive painting - but my logic tells me the only way to get good coverage with the paint is to remove all that hardware and paint it off the car. I mean, how did he clean/sand inbetween the bumper and the body? Being owners of fords, you and i both know there are places where the two meet that you can't stick a piece of paper through, let alone a piece of sandpaper. Dont' forget about all the dirt and crud that gets built up in there (and believe me there is alot!) And then you can't expect paint to be sprayed in there and coat properly. And don't forget about getting under the rubber around the windows, etc.

If it's your buddy and he's doing you a favor, and quality isn't an issue that's fine. But if i were paying a body shop and saw that, i'd be pissed. That looks like a maaco job to me. It'll suck if it starts to bubble around those areas in a year or two.

just my $.02
