Absolutely. You must have an airtight seal for the sub to work. It works kinda like a drum, if air goes past then the "thump" won't be there. Make sure the screws go all the way in, and also check to make sure they aren't stripped out. Good luck.

Did you switch the wires on one of the speakers?

well yesterday i switched one of the speakers with a bigger speaker wire, so right now i only have 1 sub working, but its hitting pretty hard.. today im gonna hook both of them up with the bigger speaker wire i got, and im gonna try to seal the subs tighter to stop the air from leaking.

flipping the wires at the terminal cup is really easy. if it's the problem, it could be easily fixed. the seal is important too, but if you go through all the work of sealing them only to find out they are out of phase, it'll still sound like crap.

ok last night, i hooked up the bigger speaker wires and re plugged everything and it worked great!! but then... i wanted to mount my amp to the back of my box, so i got inside the trunk and went to work with all the wires...well i guess the ground and the power cable just kinda slipped out of the amp and then sparked each other..so i finished moving wires around and then went to plug them back in, and sparked them again on ACCIDENT...then my amp or speakers didnt work..so me my bro and my friend spent the next hour or so, trying to figure out what was wrong, well after 2 hours and getting wet from the rain, we realized that my Fuse was a lil bit shot, and that was the problem...so now at 11 o clock i need to find a fuse so me and my bro go to wal mart....THEY DONT HAVE IT...then we go to a super wal mart and THEY DONT HAVE IT...so now im at school with no fuse and no system and i gotta wait till after school till get a damn fuse!
