P0136 Downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor circuit fault - Bank No. 1.

Threw this CEL last night and still this morning. Wet conditions last night and today. It came on SHORTLY after I had to drive through a shallow puddle at the entrance of my work (when I say shallow, I mean 2 inches). I'VE NEVER had a CEL before and this O2 problem seems to be a big thing. GUess what I'm saying is I need help. I've read that moisture can cause this and that after wet conditions, it can cause the wiring to go faulty. Searching reveled that everyone who has done this (or posted, rather) knew much more about this than I did. WHere is this sensor? Autozone guy just told me it was the "passenger side" sensor.. which makes no sense to me. Please help me!!!!

Thanks goodness it had nothing to do with the center console **wipes forehead** !

Maybe once the fitting dries out , the CEL will go away (wishful/positive thinking) .

Thanks guys. I looked under the car and I can see it hangin there. Now, what if it does not dry out.. waht do I have to replace? 02 sensor? Soudns like it's not a big deal by you two guys (thank god). I think the big ordeal is just squeezing my fat bum under the car to get to it.

?'s...

How long should I wait to see if the CEL goes off... as far as it "drying out".

If after a few days and it's still lit, what should I do? Teh "short" in the wire that couldbe there... how do I fix that? Is the harness included withteh 02 sensor?

Anything I need to consider knowing that I have MIL eliminators and gutted cats/y-pipe mod??

Sorry to sound like I should have a bus pass... this is just one of those things that bother the frick out of me.

Thank you guys for all of your help.

If you're worried about water in the wire connection, here's an idea. Get some electrical contact cleaner (which is fast drying and about $2.00 at Kragen) and clean off the contacts that connect to the sensor. After they are completely dry, wrap them up in some electrical tape or shrink wrap to prevent this happening again.

You can then try erasing the code from your PCM and seeing if it returns (easy way to check for a bad sensor).

I pulled the fuses last night and let the car sit all night and put them back in this morning before I started teh car.. and it was still on. So, I should clean the contacs on the sensor, let it dry, clear the PCM, adn give er' another try?? If no dice.. then my next plan of attack is to buy a new o2 sensor because the existing one is now in theory fried?
