FWD cars DO NOT make good drag cars.
The suspension/drivetrain setup of FWD drag cars cost more than most people on this site has invested into their Contour.
Its not about being a nay-sayer, its about relaying realistic information.
Newbies come on looking to compete with Hondas.
We have 1/4 the amount of performance parts available.
Most of which are not bolt-ons.
And we outweigh them by 500 lbs. so we basicly start 50HP in the whole.
I have no problem with people looking to explore new paths.
Another reason a 10 second Contour isn't going to happen, axels.

I'll be conservative on my fees/prices;
Minimum $5k for the actual parts, freight charges, customs charges, container to ship in, etc.
Who's going to do the custom install? A shop? Another $2k.
And if were talking street legal, then you have to get certification from the DOT.
If you're lucky, no crash testing required, well say $5k plus.
If they want it crash tested, minimum another vehicle, which means double the price and fees up to this point.
So that's (a minimum of) $17k if your lucky and $34k if you're not.
Plus the cost of te Contour itself.
I'm sure the SVT would be the platform of choice,
That $5k per car.
Again, that's (a minimum of) $22k if your lucky and $44k if you're not.
It cost about $20k to bring in a GTR from Japan and that's a prebuilt and tested car.

you guys keep talking about the engine. the engine isn't the problem. its the platform you're working with... a 10 second contour is really not likely so lets just end this conversation early.

We talked about the platform 2 or 3 posts ago.
The Contour is at best a 13 second car for the average person.
(This Zetec is going to be 13s real soon, gonna piss of some turbo 3L guys.)
12 seconds if you dump a good chunck of change into it.

My ultimate goal for my 'tour is 100mph in the 1/4. Hopefully it will happen this year.
