Hi
Car was on the rain for about 6hours and did not have any problems. Then, i hit a big puddle of water(mostly on left side)and engine went off. After restarting i was able to go about 5km until it died again.
So where could water get in???
please help cause same happened last week after car wash and code that i got was P1451

PS:
I found some things on forum talking about splash shield but one of the main TSB links does not work.
Also smth about battery light was mentioned, i did not have battery light but all lights because engine died.

What is being mentioned of the battery light is when the belt gets wet, it will slip. When it slips the alternator doesnt produce enough power, the car demands more, the alternator's load is greater, it slips more, etc.
EDIT: When posting in troubleshooting, it is usually a good idea to let us know what engine we are trying to troubleshoot.

Hi
Its 1998 V6 Duratec 2.5L
Drivebelt does not slip cause it was replaced just a little over one month ago and it was dry.
But do you know what that code means P1451?

go to the main page (contour.org) and go to FAQ's.. then common problems.. then go to CEL (and a list of codes)

hi
yes i have seen CEL codes but how and what can i proceed with to fix it.
this is what gives here:
P1451 Lack of Response From Passive Anti-Theft System Module - Engine Disabled.
but
this is what computer in garage displayed:
P1451 Evap System vent control fault
(so what would theft system have to do with water?)

EVAP system canister vent soleniod circuit
soleniod voltage out of its limit.

with my car (camaro) if there was a problem with the anti theft system the car will not start ,
getting it wet prolly shorted it out causing this ,
it had somthing to do with the system needing to be deactivated for the car to start, its there so robbers cant steal ur car without the key (i have a chip in my key)

That's great, bobby, but 1451 is the EVAP circuit, not PATS
