When my car was finished up last time, and we installed a brand new slave cylinder it lasted about 5 minutes and let go. Installed another new one, and it was fine.
Well, since my crap SS (aka clutchmasters) clutch let go, we installed a SPEC and Fidanza with another new slave clyinder. My buddy who installed it emailed me (he is a Ford Master Tech and has/had a 13 second SHO, that probably is the nicest one in the country) said the slave clyinder let go after about 40 minutes of driving.
WTF is going on? Does my car just hate him/me?

D'oh! I've been hearing more and more new/semi-new slave cylinders crapping out. Talk about a PITA thing to have to pull the drivetrain or seperate in-car to change

i think mine gave out this morning - it's when the clutch pedal looses its tension and the car can no longer be put in gear right?

I'd check other pieces/parts of the system to make sure something isn't causing the failures. 2 failures in one car doesn't add up to me. Terry Haines had mentioned to me that some of the higher end fluids like ATE super blue, etc, tend to eat slave cylinders. Might also check out the master cylinder to make sure it has proper operation. A guy I did a swap for a long time back had the master cylinder let go after just a couple hundred miles and ended up ruining the new clutch, pp, flywheel, and slave cylinder.

There are physical differences in the slaves. I don't remember what it was with the first failure (which visually a oring let go). Chuck (SHO-N-GO on the SHOforums) said he saw a difference in this one too before he installed it. I'll have him do a comparo, the next R&R and if possible snap some photos as well. Both times it has done this a brand new clutch kit and flywheel have been installed (SS HiRevs Jr & SS Flywheel first time, and SPEC Stage II and SPEC flywheel this round). I spoke with SPEC with and they said they only use Ford OEM parts.

mine popped on Keith, which sucked because he had to take the entire turbo+tranny apart again, and install a new one. . .and the "old one" was actually new from Spec, no one really knows. . . .I run ATE Super Blue as well, wondering if I should switch. . .don't know how that could do it though since the slave cylinder popped within the turn of a key. . . .go figure. . .

Yup. Exactly what happened to the first one in my SHO Shop Clutch kit. Most likely the Zetec one was put in the kit instead of the Duratec.
