As you guys know I ordered my car already (2/17/05) and was told it should be in by May. The day I sold the CSVT (3/24/05) I went to the dealership and changed the color to Perf White and he said we're still on for May, but the end of the month. Fast forward to this week, upon reading themustangsource and corralnet I decided to call my salesman again and tells me the cars due date was a "guesstimate" and would be pushed now till June. Then he drops this bomb on me, a customer of his ordered a Torch Red GT w/ IUP and color accent package back on 10/1/04 and hasn't even gotten a build date yet, WTF Heres the deal with the car and its hold up though:

-FoMoCo only expected 20% of the buying public to purchase the IUP (Interior Upgrade Package) and when the car came out, 75-80% opted for it, thus causing a shortage. Now come on, a $450.00 option that looks that good and you thought only 1 in 5 would opt for it, again, WTF!

-The "my color" ordeal. A guy sued FoMoCo for some rights and this held up the production as well.

-I also heard theres a shortage of V8 parts, yeah, like a car that has 300 hp and costs $25K isn't going to sell fast, come on guys, whos the marketing people over there

I plan on waiting it out though because one I love the car, especially after driving one and the other reason is because I have over $2K worth of tires/wheels sitting in the garage waiting for it, along with other do-dads for it The thought of a used EVO has crossed my mine and they can be had for $25K w/15K on the clock. I even went to the Pontiac dealer yesterday and that was a joke that I will not go into here Anyways, keep your eyes open for any white or green 05' GT's for me, you'll be rewarded for it if I buy it, trust me

The last one, autobytel, has SEVERAl v8 manual trans mustnag listed.. not very cloe to here, raning in 100+ miles.. but if you are wanting it tTHAT bad NOW.. may wanna think about it?? Now where's my presnt!!!

dude..my entire family owrks for Ford..my wife and I ordered a Ranger..4.0L flairside...build date of like april....something happened and it got pushed to june.....something happened and it got pushed to July...guess what...July is changeover and shutdown....so hold on man......this ride could be quite long........have I not said it before....Do not order a first year car.......duh.

Well I work at a ford dealership in the downriver area and as soon as we get 05' stang GT's on the lot they sell right away. We can't keep them for a week. Now we are getting the convertiables in and those are selling fast as well. I'll keep my eyes out for you.

The car has always sold very well to middle aged women, who tend to buy the V6 auto package. That's why the numbers for the V8 were projected so low.

Sometimes the numbers lie, and forcasts are mistaken. I am sure they are doing all they can to sell V8 packages, there is too much profit to be made in ignoring this market. It sucks I know to wait for your dream car, but the salesmen is caught in the middle, he has little control over production schedules.

There are used GTO's in the Trader mags for $23k with super low miles, like a couple thousand miles only. That's what I'd buy and avoid the instantenous depretiation of $4-5k that you get whenever you buy a new car. I'll never buy a new car again!

While waiting for my exhaust install this morning, I went to two nearby dealerships just to see if they had one for a test drive. Both apologetically told me they were backorederd anywhere from 8-14 weeks. Second guy told me Ford was anticipating 70% V6 sales and 30% GT sales, but demand has been the reverse of that, hence the shortages. At this point, may as well wait until the '06 cars come out if you want to get one ...

They also had this "GT 66" mustang, with a wicked looking body kit, 18's, stripes, grilles, etc. It looks totally hot until you get up to the side window and read "4.0L V6, 5-speed auto ..."
