How hard is it to replace the started on the v6. I have the service manual and it looks fairly straight forward, but i am worried that I will run into something that they don't describe. Anyone who has done this before have any advice?

Yeah it's not that bad...I can't imagine it being difficult on an MTX. Small hands are always a plus though! It really isn't that bad, just two bolts and you're good. Just make sure you take out the battery first...cough cough Stazi

Remove the airbox, filter, and battery.. battery tray would be a plus, as well..
Two bolts hold it in.. fenagle your way out of the coolant hose mess, and then replace.

How do you get at the bolt towards the front of the car. I got the back one off with an extension, but i dont see how a socket will get onto that front bolt, do i have to resort to a wrench?

If the only thing standing between you and getting the starter out is "finding out" about whether or not to use a wrench, I want to know why you came in here, instead of just "resorting" to getting a wrench..
lol
a deep socket may work, actually, but I used a wrench, fwiw.

Hahah, the problem is that I couldn't find the wrench, so i was wondering if I should resort to looking for it. And as I thought, I will be going to look for it... Thanks for the help guys

Gear wrench on the front bolt. Socket, universal, and extension on the rear bolt. DON'T drop the rear bolt. I can do it in 15 minutes. Though I don't have a battery there and my intake removes via just once clamp and 2 plugs. Probably take an hour or so otherwise.

How do you remove the power line on the starter, I can't see what I am doing back there... Sorry for all the newb questions, the most complicated thing I have ever done to a car is change the oil, so this is quite a step up for me

Uhmm there are two bolts that connect the starter motor to the bracket which apparently you've take care of. Then if I remember correctly, there is a starter electrical connector above the starter motor itself that you have to pull out...I would take a look at my car, but it's parked outside and it's raining...hope someone else can chime in on this.
