Hey all, went to the local Ford Dealer today to order the Ford 9mm racing wires for my 2000 CSVT. The guy behind the counter looked them up for me and told me they don't fit the 2000 2.5L engine. I know they moved things around in our cars in 2000 a bit, so Ford is prolly being on the safe side when they say they won't fit. Anyone have personal experience with the wires in their year 2000 car? Just want to make sure I don't order them and find out they really don't fit. Thanks in advance.

Thought the Ford racing wires were supposed to have perfect fitment, unlike Magnacores

I think you have that backwards.
FMS has had problems with making short boots that also shrink more with heat and have had bad problems with misfires or early failure. (though they seem to have upped their quality a little)

To answer the original question.
The Counterman at the Stealership is wrong. FMS wires fit any V6 Contique. I don't think I'd go to Stealership to order them though.

I'll wait for confirmation from 2000 svt owners but I'm going to stab at my hunch that the fitment should be identical. The SVT Duratec isn't that different... is it?
Mine fit snug and tight.

They fit fine on my 99 SVT. There isn't any reason they wouldn't work on a 00.

I looked up here http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=4971There is a note that it doesn't fit 2000+ models, but that's for Cougar ... any difference on that maybe from the Duratec for the Tour ? I have these on my 98 and the only fitment issue I have is in the (side bracket ... name escapes me right now ) and is cable tied down. Otherwise fine, and two years on still running fine.

You did see my signature right...

...and that note in the catalog should actually say 2001 and newer Cougars. That's when they changed the coil pack and the way the boot connects to it.

my comment about the magnacores is their soft (limp?) rubber boots. Like trying to put a 3" wet noodle over the plug... they compress and bend. I thought the FMS boots were more rigid and that the cable lengths on both were supposed to be good.
Does remind me of when I had my car at the stealership for a warranty replacement of the a/c compressor. They said my magnacores aren't made for the SVT valve covers, just the standard duratec... and that they usually replace them with oem. They said the SVT valve covers are 1/4" taller. It's kind of funny when the dealer mechanics try to be enlightenning.

Enlightening is definitely NOT the word for it.
