Me too, I'd like to see the Catholic leadership become more militant in condemning Catholics who pick & choose which portions of that religion they observe. That would then lead to more people giving more thought to what they really believe and questioning organized religion in general.
Reminds me of a joke:
Two Priests discover an ancient original version of the Bible. The senior Priest secludes himself in a basement to study the manuscript without interruption. After two days, the other Priest visits him, and finds the older one sobbing uncontrollably.
"What is it, Father?" asks the younger Priest.
