Well Tara, I have a 98 aswell and I replaced my WP a few months ago after it seized. It took me about 2 hours but it was my first time Anyways, we have it easier than a 97 cause you don't need to take the timing belt off. It was a little tricky for me to remove it but you have to contort it down wards and not only 180 deg but forward. It doesn't turn 180 then POP out, you have to twist, turn and pivot it.
It HAS to be able to come out without removing parts. From what I remember, the power steering pump is in the way. I just looked at the part and thought how it has to move and it went out that way and back in. Hope this helps and that you get it off.
