I've had both front wheel bearings replaced twice by now. They last around 80,000 miles. The first time I had it done at Bonnell Ford in Winchester, MA. Around $140 parts and labor (per wheel). That was back in 2000.
I had the passenger side bearing done again at Wayside Ford in Marlboro, MA. This ran me around $250, but that was high because they destroyed the old rotor (which was frozen to the hub)and they needed to install a new one. I think it would have been only around $180 if the job had gone smoothly. This was only a few weeks ago.
I think either the SVT must be very different, or you are getting bogus quotes.
