Since fosgate went on the stock exchange from what i understand, their amps and other products aren't that great anymore. So great amp is a little bit of a push too. That from blowing up 3 of them pushing them at a very moderate rate. They also have a tendency to burn power wires or should i say they melt right at the amp(at least the 300 and 600's that i have seen in a few different cars)
As far as subs, the 13w7 is nice and sounds good. But like they said do you really want to spend that money for that. I nice comparison in the same family is the W6v2 series. They are nice too. You could also try the fosgate t-series, but i have blown up 2 of those on 500watt rms amps. One blown after i drove away from the shop and got 4 blocks. Shyt was funny.
But that's just my 2 cents.
I drive a Ford, what else do you need to know??

really.. melting power wires??? you were obviously running too small of a gauge wire to the amp. Fosgates are power hungry and have strict specs on what power wire to use.. So sounds like your shop doen't know what they were doing. Or you were being extremely stupid by cranking brand new speakers past distortion immediately after installation. And another tid bit, Rockford has been on the market since 1999 and have produced some pretty decent amplifiers since..

An Avalanche 15 will push more air, and is much cheaper. And throw your cap away in a Contour.

Never blew JL's subs. As far as the gauge of wiring, 4 then went to 1 amp still melted them both. Fosgate amps are very power hungry, i just think that the newer ones are not as up to par as most of the older series fosgates. They look nice though!!
As far as cranking new speakers past distortion, NO, moderate play even set the gain to a 1/4 turn and the bass and sub level on the deck below 2db's. I think the second one that went was just a freak spike though.

Yeah, the RF 15" in my trunk I estimate being from 1999. Can't really find any info about it (except found the power ratings after a long Google search). It could very well be older than that... Paper cone, small foam surround.
Also a friend had 3 JL 10w3's in his Vette and put 2 of them in his 01 Ram when he traded in the Vette... They friggen pound! That Ram with the under the backseat enclosure that barely fit those w3's made that trucks system enjoyable.

Were talking about stock being traded on the market here.. thats where the 1999 came from.. geez people, Rockford had been around since the early 70's, 1973 IIRC.
