Mondeo ATC(Automatic Climate Control) night time pics-daytime to follow

From MEG :-

As some will know(thanks DJDIGITALD!!) i purchased a rare Mondeo Mk1 ATC(Automatic Climate Control) kit off eBay Italia a while back.Well,it arrived and the display was very dim A common problem with these units i'm told. Managed to desolder the LCD display to get to the back lighting.32 SMD LED's greated me,some had failed and all were very dim. Purchased some new SMD LED's(Osram super bright) and the display was nice & bright. On to the next problem, the air direction control would only blow air to the windscreen. This i found to be faulty vacuum actuators,i also discovered that the aircon recircualtion valve fitted to Mk1's would work the same as these faulty valves Fitted 4 of those and the thing would blow air where i wanted. Onto the next problem(!!) when i selected hot air it blew cold and vice versa!!! I mangaged to reverse the linkage so this worked correctly. Following all these problems i comtemplated selling the unit as i was reluctant to drill/cut holes in a perfect dash for it!! Well, this Monday i said "sod it!" and started drilling!! The windscreen demist sensor was the hardest-all of the front dash trim needs to come out-then it's steady hand time with a long(and big-12mm) drill bit to cut the hole in the heater vent pipe for the sensor. The face level vent is easy-drill a hole in the fead pipe and push the sensor in. The footwell pipe needs a hole too-once you know where to drill this one is easy. There is also a cabin temp sensor which has a small in built fan in it-this is mounted in the centre console and needs a 12mm hole and two 2mm holes. The final sensor is the outside temp sensor, this is mounted on the trim behind the grill. The ATC has a thyristor to control the fan-this gets VERY hot and needs to be mounted in the heater fan assembly(so it get's cooled by the blower fan-same as the standard heater resistor pack). This was one of the hardest parts-you need to cut a hole around 50mm x 25mm in the blower assembly, the ATC comes with a trim that is for LHD cars so needs a slight mod but fitted OK in the end. Fitting the control module was quite hard-TIS shows this mounted behind the ash try but the picture on TIS is wrong!! Anyway, made up some brackets so the module bolted under the stereo nicely. Finnaly it was time to mount the LCD panel, this requires much cutting and filing of the surround-couple of hours later and it was finished. So,here it is,what i believe to be a UK first?? ATC on the Mk1 Mondeo And yes,the system seems to work very well, only annoying thing is it switches A/C on every time the windscreen vent is selected but TBH i leave it in auto mode anyway(so A/C is always on)
