OK I have started the swap. The blown engine and mtx are out. There are several differences on the focus block. mainly the timing belt setup, engine mount, alternator mount, knock sensor, ac mount. So far I have solved all of these problems except the ac mount. I will address that tomorrow. BTW the stock focus throttle body is like half the size of the stock contour one. Yet stock the motors are rated as 5hp more.

which oil pump and pickup are you using? water pump? focus long block(incl. cyl head) or short block?

I am using the focus long block, water pump, I am not sure on the pickup tube yet, but I am using the oil pump, most likely the focus pump isn't swappable with the contour one as the filter mounts a little bit differently so that it just clears the engine mounting bracket.

now you can put focus headers on the contour since the downpipe is goin to be different.

I already have focus long tube headers, that I used on my other engine. But if anyone is interested in the stock focus exhaust manifold let me know its CHEAP!!!

OK the transmission is installed. The block appears to be about 1/8" taller so the bottom pan to tranmission bolt holes had to be notched a bit but everything else for the transmission went smoothly. The passenger side engine mount has been taken care of and the ac still mounts up, it just took some cutting to make the brackets fit. I am going to need a longer serpentine belt maybe 5" longer. The oil pan is installed, the focus oil sump is made of plastic and the 2 piece oil pan also serves as a crank scraper. I had to rotate the pressed oil sump mounting flange so that it mated with the focus oil pump correctly. The main caps on the contour engine are identical except they are taller. Those were necessary for the bolts that hold on the tour's crank scraper. Now the engine is sitting in the engine bay barely mounted up as I need to return the rental engine hoist. I have been taking some pics so I will post them. Also several mounting holes are located in slightly different locations or don't exist all together.

wow if u are taking care of any focus zetec install issues I wonder what u can do with the Focus SVT long block
