Someone just posted about autodash.com having a carbon fiber dash for our cars. They don't just have a carbon fiber dash, but they have a PANTLOAD of dashes--real wood finishes, colored carbon fiber, synthetic brushed aluminum (a la BMW), and tons more. This is sh!t-hot stuff. A bit 'spensive though but really cool!

Or you could just use $4 worth of paint...

I just got a '99 contour (this is my first ever post!) and the first thing I'd like to do is something for the cheap-looking dash.

I dunno why his post doesn't seem to work... the URL should, though. But it doesn't!

For Windows 9x and ME users, if you right-click the text and do a Copy Shortcut, then open another browser window and paste it into the address bar, it works. Looks kinda cool.

What kind of paint did you use?

Weird - it's working for me. Maybe there's some sort of password issue. Let's try this one:

Anyhoo, it's Testor's "Aluminizing" paint on the bottom part, and Ford's interior paint on the top part (kind of tough to see, but the vent panel is Midnight Blue to match the rest).

riopoopie, I would very much like to see some pics of your car. Also, if you wouldn't mind, let me know how much it cost you total.

viss1, did you paint anything on the passenger side, or the door panels? If so, could you post pics of those?

sminbiole - Nope, just the dash. The door handles and A-Pillar moldings are pretty much the only other black plastic parts. I haven't gotten around to doing the A-Pillars yet (they'll be blue), and I don't want to paint anything that will be used as frequently as the door handle.

hey viss1 how did you remove the panel around the radio and air conditioning controls. i want to paint mine like that but how do you remove the panel.how do you take the one off around the headlight switches too? you just used testor's paint? what was the name of the color?
