After a grueling Saturday and a Sunday that was mostly filled with family stuff, I finished putting the motor back together this morning. I was nervous - being that my baby has been resting for 18 months - but I had faith most of the project went fine.
I was mostly right.
She cranked right over after I primed the oil.
I was shocked how easily she started and how smoothly she idled right off the bat. But.....
I have an oil leak. It seems to be coming from the exhaust camshaft/gear connection. I tried to find it this morning, but I was running out of time and had to get ready for work.
I also have a coolant leak. Seems to be coming from the thermostat housing, so most likely I have a loose hose or bolt.
All-in-all, I'm super-happy. This is my first rebuild ever and minus a couple of small issues to be worked out it went together rather well.
Wish me luck that I can find the cause of the oil leak. If any of you have some advice (perhaps someone else has already had to tackle this issue) I'd appreciate some input.
