ex post facto doesn't work here, because after the new law comes out, you would be in violation of it. Ex post facto only applies when you do something that is made illegal before it is made illegal, once the law is made and the particular action is illegal, you don't do it anymore. The violation for tint is not having it done, but driving a vehicle with dark tint on it, which you would be doing after a law prohibiting that was passed.

Also, there is still a tinting law on the books in GA. However it was declared unconstituional by a judge. By having dark tint in GA you are still violating the law, but a ticket won't hold up in court becuase the law has been declared unconstiutional. The new law that they are passing will address the issues that the judge had with it.

Sorry for the thread hijak

SVTatGT awesome site and info. They say w/ the tint you will get a "moving vehicle traffic citation, with a $40-50 fine assessed". Does this in anyway effect insurance rates or add points?

I found another website here

I think it would fall under "Any moving violation not listed below and not contributing to an accident" which would be 1 point. Whether or not that effects your insurance depends on your insurance company, most of them change your rate according to how many points you have, so you would have to call them and ask if 1 point would affect your rates.

Seeing that it says "moving vehicle traffic citation" seems to me like a moving violation, which goes on your MVR, which the insurance picks up on...

Unconstitutional huh? I wonder if I attempted to do a class action law suit here in the Socialist Republic of Illinois to throw out our no tint law, if it would be declared unconstitutional too...

sh!t. Now Im in a perdicament. I have this mirrored tint on and have 10 days to show a cop its off on the driver and pass fronts. So I have to remove the tint or change in some other glass, show the cop, then put the tinted glass back in. Its going to cost around 150 to remove the tint and Ive heard there is a good chance that when removing the rear window tint the rear deforsters can get damaged and not work anymore. On the other hand if i put the tinted windows back on and get a ticket here in PA or in MD(where im moving begining of next month) it could jack my insurance up and add points. DAMN i dont know what to do. This tint looks sooo good and I dont want to ride tintless. Either way it looks like im spending around 300 to remove this then put on non mirrored tint.

Looks like you've gotta remove all your tint . It sucks , but sometimes you've just gotta play by the rules .
