I'm about to purchase my very first car, a 2000 SVT Contour. I have to chose between tan and midnight blue leather. The car is black. My question.... Has anyone had any problems with fading of the midnight blue leather? Does it show wear excessively? Which should I get?
I can't wait till I get this car. Thanks JOHN

i recommend midnight blue. i have it in my 98 contour svt. Its very dark and almost black. I highly recommend it with the black car. The front seats just look much better with lueleather rather than tan. The design of the seat is great, but looks much better in blue leather. However, it is a personal preference. go for the blue =)

Hey, what applies to beer can apply to cars -- black and tan. Seriously, I have the midnight blue interior, and I haven't noticed any fading. This could be because I have my windows tinted and because I keep my car in a garage. But for the first 1-1/3 year(s) that I had the car, it sat outdoors in all four seasons.

Only the seating surfaces (the perforated part) is leather, the rest is vinyl (or pleather). As for fading I haven't noticed any (midnight blue here) so if it fades, it does so consistently, heh. Oh, and midnight blue tends to look purple. And it gets really hot with the black/midnight blue comination. ------------------ Louis Wang Sugar Land, TX 1998 Black E0 #3826 http://web.wtez.net/tw57472

Thanks for all the replies. Now I just have to deal with the financing schmuck and the car is mine. Well actually, I guess it will belong to the bank. Oh well.

Actually the whole "top" of the seats are leather--the perforated parts and the pieces of the side and bottom-cushion bolsters that touch the occupant. The sides, back, and the entire headrest are all vinyl

One thing to Consider!
If you plan on tinting the windows and want the dark look. Go with the midnight blue. The tan will reflect light and make you tint seem light from outside. The dark tint looks better with dark windows.

No fading Midnight Blue leather here. This interior color is very unique indeed. As mentioned earlier it is quite dark in most lights. On occasion you can see that purple haze.
I am not sure about the '00 (None in Canada)but the '99 Prairie Tan's dash color doesn't match with the seating surfaces. The dash is darker than the leather. Too choppy.
That said, whatever your choice may be both colors will look good with the Black ext. Enjoy.
