Just wondering everyones thoughts on a used 1999 Taurus SE is.
It is in 100% mint condition which is odd because it has 99k miles. Black with gray cloth, almost fully loaded, just no leather or sunroof. It was well maintained.
They are asking $3500 but I'm thinking could maybe get them down to $3000.
What are some things to look out for on that generation Taurus?
How is the reliability?
Any thoughts on it would be good to know.
Thanks.

Reliability is great as far as I know. Most of the suspension is probably pretty worn. Is it a 24v Duratec or a Vulcan?

I just asked myself that same question. I forgot to check.
I haven't talked to the owners about it yet.

My wife also drives a 99 Taurus SE with the Duratec. It has 70,000 miles on it now. We had to replace two of the wheel bearings a little earlier than I would have expected, and the brake master cylinder. But, other than those items, it has been a great car.

My girlfriend's mom has a 1996 Taurus SE all options but leather, Including the duratec ( ) My girlfriend definately knows how to push that duratec to its full potential. It has 114K miles on it, Runs beautifully. My girlfriend beats on it, her mom... is not a good driver. They have had it for quite a while now and it hasnt really needed much work at all. Great car. For 3000, i would take a 99 taurus SE anyday. Even if it had 99K miles.

Taurus is a very solid and reliable car ... you can't really go wrong with them from what I've seen. On the other hand, they are somewhat dull to drive, but reliability is great and so is parts sourcing/costs.

My dad's '99 had one go bad at 36k. Must be a common issue.

Well I'm going to try and find out today from them if it has the Duratec or not. Hopefully it does.
Probably go for it if it does.
