I was watching Discovery channel and I saw a show where they built a Postal Van (converted to electicity) to race against a Dodge Viper. Too bad it kept on breaking blets. However, it still ran a 12 or 14 at over 100mph with one belt iirc.

I don't know if that includes me. The albany metro area is about 150k people, so not exactly BFE, but nothing special. I definitely don't claim Albany as the best place, probably any city in Cali is better than it, but that's just albany.

I think California is an ok PLACE. But a lotta the people aren't so OK and a few other things. ... I don't like big cities. I like some of what they offer and they can be fun to visit. But I like the country. I also don't like earthquakes.

Well a lot of people say that they wouldn't live here becuase of earthquakes and I think it's hillarious. Last one to really speak of was Northridge in 94'. 11 years ago. Loma Prieta was 89' going on 16 years ago. I was in San Jose for Loma Prieta and in L.A. for Northridge. They really aren't that bad. Over in 1-2 min. What cracks me up is the people who live in Florida who actually have a hurricane SEASON EVERY YEAR. I won't even talk about last year. This also applies to tornado alley.

I rather take my chances with an eartquake once in a blue moon than a hurricane season every year.

Earthquakes don't have too much of a warning though. Hurricanes have pretty good bit of a warning.

Warnings are overrated. I rather deal with an quake that is over in 1-2 mins. then wonder and worry about if I'm going to have a house in 4-5 days when the storm hits.

I don't want to live in Florida either, but last I checked, an earthquake can mess up a house too (I know cali has strict building regulations, which is good). Anyways, that isn't my main reason at all for not wanting to live in California. I just said I don't like earthquakes. I don't think very many people like earthquakes.

I understand completely. They can be kind of freaky the first time. And yes they can mess some things up. Just not as much as a Class 4-5 storm. To each his own I always say.

Where in OK are you from???

I grew up in Calera. It's south of Durant and near Lake Texoma (best lake in the world, IMO)

CA has more country than you think. in fact, probably more than half the state is country. whenever i drive up to Yosemite, all i see is about 7-8 hours of country.

btw Sigma, i know CA residents may have a reputation for arrogance but i think that would come in second to NY! CA may think its the best but NY thinks everything else sucks. of course, that would be a basic stereotype based on NYC to which Im sure Albany is completely different from. just as LA is completely different than Sacramento or Fresno.

ps thanks for Packrat for completely steering this thread into a different direction. lol but seriously, you hate this state because of some stupid laws and regulatons? i havent been to many other states, a few countries, but even less states. Ive been to Arizona, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. My parents and sister lived in Texas for yeeears before i was born. in fact, my dad's entire side of the family is from Texas, most of which relocated here for work.
anyway, each state that Ive been to I have reallly liked for various reasons. Nevada, really only for Vegas. too damn hot and nothing but dirt and rocks. I reallly liked Oregon's woodland areas and Seattle was very nice. I love Arizona's weather and the COLORADO RIVER is the sh*t!
I would really love to, one day, see more states in the US. take a family road trip. I would actually love to visit the south. especially Florida and Louisiana.

I would love to move out of CA just on the cost of living reason alone, but id miss what i really love about this place too much. I just need to move away from LA. LA just plain sucks. i like where i live but its becoming more and more like metro LA as the years go by. LA County has just plain ridiculous taxes and what not. just too many damn people, too much traffic, and too expensive. some where a little removed from it all but still near the things i love that are here.

I don't know how this thread got off in a tangent but I calculated that in Vancouver we are paying ~$3.06 USD for Regular and ~$3.34 USD for premium.

Here in the burbs we pay ~$2.51 USD, but the price fluctuates as much as .50C (USD) on the same day

Can't complain?

EDIT: Now no one from USA will come up for a meet now!
