Well then that's fantastic.
And I'm sure you have your reasons for settling whereever you settle just as people who settle in CA have their reasons.

maybe some things about CA suck, but the state definitely does not. if you were to come over here for a two week vacation you could not even possibly begin to do/see all there is to see here. you could maybe see what LA has to offer but there is much more than that.

Sure it's expensive:
I had a choice upon graduation $32K in Portland or $50K in San Jose. Average household income is over $75K in Santa Clara county with the median used home price at $625K. Highest in the nation for househld income by over $10K!
I have no complaints or regrets with my decision and I think my 10yr old daughter is better off in this state than anywhere else due to the great shool she is in, abundance of world class colleges, and superior job market. Her 4th grade class is filled with Asians, Indians, whites and a few Mexicans.
One thing Cali has accomplished which I think is impressive is due to the strict emissions laws by forcing cars to go on the sniffer, all the old mass polluter vehciles have been crushed or sold to other states. Those '84 Caravans with a leaky head gasket blowing smoke are no longer around!

As stated... everyone loves where they live for a reason..
I have been in CA for MULTIPLE stays, 90% of which were over 4 months... the others were all at least a month and a half.. the longest for almost a year.
I like it.. San Diego is nice.. LA is "okay" for me.. Bakersfield is NICE and the Pacifica area (JUST south of San Fran) is wonderfully beautiful.
I still choose to live in Texas, though that is something that would open an entirely new can of worms as to "why", etc.. so.. yes, there is allure, there..
physical beauty, the differences of origin, and the atmosphere. Please keep that in mind when you decide to visit anywhere (and come see Texas.. we can offer alot of that same stuff, especially the mixed ethnic backgrounds, and wonderfully different cultural cuisines..)

I think its pretty evident with the amount of people in California that there are other reasons (tangible/intangible) for wanting to live there.
Stupidity perhaps?
Seriously, you work at Wal-mart. And not even as a manager, you're a registermonkey. Of all the people to be slinging [censored] you're one of the LAST people that should.
Why don't you take your holier than thou attitude and shove it where the sun don't shine... Canada talks about the US being stuck up snobs??? If you are any representation, Canada isn't very much better about that...

maybe, but im talking about just los angeles alone. i doubt right now that people in travel agencies in Germany and Japan etc.. are looking at brochures of Atlanta. i hear its a very place but i doubt its on any United States tours.
and please, you can see everything Nevada has to offer in about three days. and they have VEGAS! what do states like Iowa and Nebraska have to show people?

Yup I paid $3.05/gal about 30 min ago on the corner of Cahuenga and Franklin in Hollywood. Doesn't really bother me.
As far as the Cali. bashing, just let it go PackRat. Everytime anything about Cali. comes up you start bashing like crazy. Why? Envious? I don't know why but it is rather childish. I love Cali. I make over twice what I would make in other parts of the country (except maybe NYC), I can walk to some of the best clubs in L.A. from my appartment, I can be at the beach in 15 min, and the women are out of this world beautifull. Oh yeah it is about 86 and not a cloud in the sky right now. I do have to brave 55-60 deg. winters though.LOL. Also just about everyone I know and have talked to in L.A. says that they love it and would never leave. I know I won't unless I get into Columbia Law School.
Seriouslly though people live where they like it. I don't understand why people want to bash them for it.
