CARB needs to be abolished. California needs to follow EPA rules. The other states that follow CARB need to be brought into line. This bureaucracy must end.

2) Abundance of National & State parks - have that here.
3) Fantastic jobs - yeah, but after you pay for the commute and your property bills, you're no better off.

Let's see...
Texas and Florida in places offer close to the same variety for a quarter of the price(the quality of which can be debated; it all depends if you're stuck on having mountains around you).
For someone that makes a fair living, it leaves room for serious investing, vacation property, sizeable primary residences and by most measures, a FAR better chance at a quality retirement.
I can see the physical attraction to CA, but not for the price one has to pay. Chalk me up as a person that just doesn't "get it".

I like georgia. Beaches, mountains to the north, plenty of woods, southern hospitality, low cost of living, not too crowded, and southern food.

It's like where you live is the greatest and you get into a big dick pissing contest over it.
I think its pretty evident with the amount of people in California that there are other reasons (tangible/intangible) for wanting to live there.
NY's pretty expensive too but its one of the largest cities in the US.
Taking me for example, I plan on living in NYC and in CA for at least a few years out of my life. Not knocking TX, but you I don't see the allure of Dallas.
