Yeah, that was a brilliant move on their part, ban the cars/trucks that produce the LOWEST levels of greenhouse gasses, ironic considering the commies want to ratify the Kyoto treaty.
Even dumber since California has ULSD available already.
You can throw as much sugar on a turd as you want but it doesn't change the fact that it's still a turd.

So I think cities like Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Atlanta could benefit from these fuels, they choose not to!
Are you serious? That's stupid.
Yeah, and the public of those cities probably are happy they choose not to. I know urban areas obviously have more pollution than rural areas, but I don't think Atlanta is bad enough that people want to pay more for gas.

The lines are at certian times. If you go later, like after 6:30, there usually isn't much, if any line. And it's not that far from Northrige, although it is around the corner from work for me.
i live in Chatsworth up by the 118 and Topanga. by the time i would drive all the way over there and back, i will have burned up the savings. ive gone there once, but its not too often that im in that area and need gas. that's why i just stick to Arcos. there by far cheaper than the Shells, 76s and Mobils around here.

Kremit, do you live in an area with clean air? Albany, GA, sounds like one of those places with pine trees, lakes and clean air.
Let me tell you what it's like to live in the murky crap we had here in the 1970's:
1) stinging, watering eyes most of the summer
2)restrictions on going outdoors and exercising during school recess
3) burning sensation in the lungs if you ran around outside on a smoggy day
4) overall queasy feeling on days with high ozone
5) high rates of asthma in children and old people.
6) old people dying at mysteriously high rates on bad smog days
I could go on. Those people you mentioned would be well advised to spend a few cents per gallon for a cleaner blend of gas. That probably goes for Atlanta too.

Yeap, Albany (the air anyways) is clean.
I know California had some bad problems.
But I've been to Atlanta plenty of times, and I know it obviously has more pollution than where I live, but the air quality seems fine, meaning not bad enough to warrant raising prices of gas. The air would not stop me from living in Atlanta.

yeah - but at the same timewere I live (wasatch front in UT) has worse winter air than CALI in the summer! Its a certified fact that during our winters we have worse air quality than in LA basin in the summer. We however dont ahve to pay for stupid crap that you do. I think I paid 2.40 for "premium" (91 crap) a couple days ago. I am also VERY heavily influenced by diesel - way better fuel, way cheaper and better for the enviroment. Morons like the ones making decisions in Cali just dont get it. They dont know what they are talking abotu and that is why they have outlawed many of the things that make cars cleaner and for fuel efficient while at the same time mandating 100% electric cars that are neither economically feasable nor in the present time really producable. Time may come when car comapnies choose to not sell their cars in cali because of idiot legislation. You already cant get diesel there.

Why pay when you can just leave Cesspoolafornia and move somewhere much cleaner and less expensive?

Do you really think that's mostly what you're paying for with your greatly heightned gas prices? Is that the crap that they feed you there so you accept what you have to pay? I sincerely hope that you don't believe the difference you pay is largely because of some sort of "special fuels" that you have to use.
The Average Price per Gallon in California this week is $2.46 -- Highest in the Nation. The Average Price per Gallon in South Carolina is $2.11 -- Lowest in the Nation. A difference of 35 cents.
Total tax (federal and all applicable state taxes) for gas in California is 54 cents, plus 1-4% more (3-10 cents) for local tax. South Carolina is only 35.2 cents total with no applicable local tax (although a few cities may choose to tax it).
That's a difference of 21-29 cents/gallon in taxes. That's mostly what you're paying for. Yes, there is some additional price for burning cleaner fuels, but that isn't even close to the majority of what you're paying for with the added cost.

Here's a good article about what's happening with diesel technology. It's always better to discuss facts than rumors. http://www.pscleanair.org/specprog/cleancar/05_calif_diesel.shtml

Sounds like Mexico City on good days...
...10-15 years ago. They've cleaned up their air quite a bit, but it still has a LONG ways to go.
I've said it once and I'll say it again. I love to visit CA, but you would have to pay me a king's ransom to live there. It's got everything one could want, but the cost of living is entirely out of whack with reality.
I've turned down two jobs in CA; one in Folsom (where it's supposed to be halfway affordable) and another with a company in the Bay Area. Traffic, laws, HOUSING PRICES, cost of living, taxes, etc., etc.
Projections are that the housing market in CA has finally hit a plateau for the most part; I have a feeling that the days of insane housing and property appreciation are over. Those that have owned property for a long period of time are set if they can sell out (and if they've been able to keep up with property taxes; I know a few folks that have sold and moved out of places due to property taxes eating them alive); those moving in better be banking serious money unless they want to pay rent their entire lives...
I've run the numbers and they just don't work unless one sees a tremendous uplift in their paycheck.
