Dear Harvard, Wharton (UPenn), Kellogg (NW), Columbia, Sloan (MIT), Tuck (Dartmouth), NYU, and Vanderbilt.

I'm Josh. I'm twenty-five. I'm a first-semester freshman at the University of North Texas. I'm studying Business Administration and Economics with a focus on International Relations. I really really want to attend your MBA program in the fall of 2008.

I have 7 years of full-time supervisory work experience. I'm also a member of my university's central housing system and next year will be a representative of the UNT Housing System to other universities in our region. That's about all I have racked up right now.

Here are the things I think I should do in order to get accepted to your school:
  1. Have a lot of money.
  2. Become involved in Student Government.
  3. Become involved in a politcal organization (i.e. the Young Conservatives of Texas).
  4. Become involved in community service.
  5. Have a portfolio of investments (stocks, commodities, etc.).
  6. Continue my role as a supervisor in a Fortune 1000 company.
  7. Continue my role as a representative of my school in the area of student housing, possibly to include a position as a Residence Hall Director.
  8. Drive a Honda.
If you can think of anything else I can do in order to increase my chances for acceptance into your Graduate Business program, please let me know. Thanks a bunch.

Hrm... I intend on having a similar GPA by the time I graduate (talk is cheap, though). I'm also an excellent test-taker. I took the SAT once and scored a 1300 and scored a 98 on the ASVAB in high-school and a 90 when I enlisted at 22.

I wonder if the rest of my list would just be icing on the cake.

Best of luck,

Top tier MBA schools want 5yrs of work experience AFTER you have a Bachelors degree.

The MBA programs at the top tier school are there for people with differtn backgrounds to dicuss what went wrong and how to improve. The only way your gonna know that answer is if you have worked in a job.

I don't consider selling clothes at a retail establishment acceptable job experience for an MBA program.

Oh, an no one gives F about your ASVAB score unless you plan on giving the Marines another shot at your life.

I don't sell clothes.

The ASVAB info was there to use as a basis for test-taking ability. But I appreciate your encouragement. If you have any more positive feedback, please don't hesitate to let me know.
