Colorado state police have so far issued over 450 citations to Left Lane Vigilantes, and hopefully it's only a matter of time before other states follow suit.

According to The Associated Press, Master Trooper Ron Watkins said that since the ticketing campaign began three months ago, about 90 percent of the drivers he has pulled over for dawdling or cruising in the left lane said they didn't know that it was illegal to do so.

Ninety percent!

The Grrr! column applauds the work of Master Trooper Watkins and his fellow troopers as they keep the left lane safe for passing motorists. It's a passing lane, folks. It's not the Sunday Driver's lane. Move, or be ticketed.

Awesome. Too bad it probably won't happen in very many other places.

I think this will bring the percentage of road rage accidents down by 90%!!!!!

I think all of Massholechusetts would die of heart attacks if this was enforced.
They are physically incapble of leaving the left lane.

Government is finally realizing that the easiest way to get more cars down the same street is allowing people to drive fast (as long as they're safe and follow the rules) and ticketing people that are hindering the capacity of the roadways and decreasing safety by slowing overall flow.

More cars down the same road faster == more capacity. If you could go 60 down the crowded freeway in the morning rather than 40, you could get 50% more cars down the same road. That's actually far greater than the increase you get from adding an entire lane to a 2-lane freeway, as giving people more lane choices actually hinders traffic flow to a large extent and doesn't increase it proportionally.

The goverment still gets their fine revenue and, with decreased traffic, people are more apt to move to the area and increase the tax revenue to.

They starting enforcing this back in Australia about 8-9 years ago, and I LOVED it. So many a-holes would cruize in the left lane thinking "F you" to everyone trying to pass.

Once the $100 tickets started flying. EVERYONE stayed right unless they were passing or making a left turn within the next few hundred meters.

I'm praying to God, Allah, Budha, Moses and the Giant Rainbow Serpent, that they enforce this in MI - the state legendary for left lane, self-proclaimed, speed-enforcers. So many pricks on the expressway will stay in the left lane regardlesss of the speed they're doing refusing to get over even if it's open - despite all the honking flashing and bird-flashing you give them. And then they have the ordacity to give you dirty looks when you pass them on the right (and cut them off for good measure! ) Fuggers!
