installing the revised oilpan proved easy with these exact instructions.

A crack has appeared in my oil pan right around the drainage hole (1997 Contour, MTX, 2.5 V6)

Replacing seems quite straight forward as per the above instructions...however while enquiring about parts and cost at a Ford dealer, I was told that I "HAVE" to change the dipstick and dipstick tube because of revisions to the oil pan. I called another Ford dealer and was told the opposite. I said: "Another dealer said I have to change..." to which he responded: "Yeah, that's what Ford will tell you" (Both times by FORD parts dept in Montreal, Canada).

I would really appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this. Additionally, how easy is it to change the dipstick tube because visually it doesn't look something all that easy to do. I've searched the forums, but found nothing.

Sorry I didn't catch your request via PM sooner... I hardly check emails, so I got the PM and came on in. I wish I could tell you with any certainty which person was correct, the fact is, however, that I changed the oilpan with the same version, and not a revised version (I was a CEG-less tour owner at the time!!! I didn't have internet access and was new enough that I wasn't aware of a revised pan being available, or needed.)

Either way, I would look to someone who HAS used a revised pan.. I believe Demon and Warmonger have both used them, and I would trust anything they say as truth...

Warmonger (Tom) hangs out in the 3.0 forum mostly, and Demon floats through the duratec and troubleshooting forums rather frequently..

Ray,

Thank you so much for the quick response it is very much appreciated.

Additionally, thank you so much for the leads. I will try to contact both members you mentioned via PM. Hopefully, either or both will read their PMs and help shed some light on this problem.

Regardless, thanks so much. CEG is a brilliant website with great and noble members who are always ready to lend a hand!

Man, I try not to let that stuff get to me..

I appreciate the sentiment, but I'm no different than any other member, and I am no better than any other member here (noob or otherwise).

Some people have more knowledge of this specific topic than others. Others have more knowledge on things I have no clue about. I don't make this site good.. Demon doesn't make it good.. Nobody makes it "good" by theirself. It is only with the cumulative collection of all of the members knowledge that we grow to heights never attainable on our own. (We're kinda like the Borg!!!! lol )

Thanks, again, for the acknowledgement, but the only person that DESERVES that would be L.K himself, for allowing this site to continue.

Hats off to every member, for whatever it is that they contribute, or can, to this site.

Greg (Demon) usually steps in at around 10-ish (pm) on weekdays (most of the time) and hangs out for an hour or a little more..
He normally comes on again mid day or so.

Tom (Warmonger) is on at various times, but usually early to mid day.

I try to keep tabs of who/when, so that if I need help, I will know who would read my posts or pms first, and can direct it to them.
