Good way to put it Kermit, myself if I won a car and I had to pick between the both, the SRT would be the one to pick.

"no matter what a Contour is a Contour" as stated from another post , We all have different opinions and no need to go too far with this , we all know we have contour/s mystiques and I tell you ! Some have gone WAY beyond of what the Contour value is! But we like appearance so we do what we want.

If I were getting a Subaru and it wasn't the STI, then it sure would have to be the Legacy GT.

Between the SRT4 and the WRX, the SRT4 would be my choice. It's about $4K-$5K cheaper and it's way more of a bang for your buck type daily driver. The WRX isn't worth what they sell them for, especially some of the options they have for it (+$300 CF e-brake handle!? )

WRX..

1. I couldn't handle being made fun of for driving a neon all the time. I don't care how fast it is. (I would rather drive my wifes previous car, a yellow new beetle)

2. If I spend $15,000+ then I want power rear windows

3. Reliability. Its still a neon. The WRX has proven reliability.

4. Safety..

5. Awd for bad weather and better launches as you add lots of power

6. Comfort... I'm 6'1 250... the neon seats hurt

7. Interior, its a neon interior! The subaru isn't great but still beats it

8. Tuner market. The subie still has it beat.

9. resale

10. image... kinda like the first one... 95% of people don't know the difference between a neon and SRT-4. I don't want to show up for a business appointment in a neon!

Why not just buy a Legacy GT (I did). You can get one for $24000. Its faster than a WRX stock. Just get a Cobb AP and you will be running 290hp and around the same performance as a SRT-4... but in a classy, comfortable, refined car.

1.You really worry about what others think all the time? Even so, none of the srt4 drivers I know get made fun for their cars.

3.The srt4 is very reliable. You should look into it. Every wrx owner I know has tranny problems.

4.Wrx is a bit safer, the srt4 is available with side air bags (non-viper seats) and is fairly safe.

5.True, comes with added cost, lower gas mileage, more to work on, and slower highway response

6.Might depend on what seats in the srt4, I'm not 6'10" but I feel just as comfortable in the srt4 seats as I do in wrx seats

7.True, you pay for it though

8.They're close enough. The srt4 market is plenty big enough with most stuff being relatively affordable for large power gains

9.Wrx is a BIT better than the srt4 but nothing fantastic. In any case, a car shouldn't be bought as an investment.

10.Those same 95% don't know the difference between a wrx and an impreza, that is even if they know what an impreza is.

SRT-4's are for highschoolers and college girls. They have not an ounce of masculinity.

The new WRX looks worlds better than the old model!

Here is my point. At 6'3", I look funny getting out of a Neon. I don't getting out of a WRX. The WRX has a post College stigma image, unlike the Neon.

I'm almost married, penis sized doens't matter anymore, she squirms anyway.

I know just as many wrx owners as srt4 owners in college/high school. In fact, at my college (which is pretty decent sized, I believe 16k students) there are three or four wrx owners, not a single srt4 in town. But again, what does it matter how you look getting out of a car? I imagine most of us would look funny getting out of an elise or even many supercars.

IF you people want fast and cheap with a decent engige get a 1G talon/eclipse/laser. For a little more money and better looks, get a 2G. Buy car for $5000 or less, use money saved for mods, still have money left over for other fun stuff, beat both cars in race and throw extra money out window at them and laugh all the way home.
