57,000 miles

Replaced under warranty:

ABS Module and #3 Fuse in engine compartment (Controls ABS and Heater blower)
A/C Compressor, freon recharged

Replaced by me:
4 new tires and alignment at 49k
Idler Tensioner pulley and Tensioner pulley assembly (This is gonna be replaced Monday)
New spark plugs at 57k (Just done today!)

I love my Zetec! No major problems whatsoever. smile

98 SE: 2.5 V6 ATX. 33,900 miles. Bought vehicle at appx. 24K miles.

Under warranty:
24K - Mar/Apr '01 - fuel pump and related problems (due to the dealer)
28K (appx) - June '01 - muffler went
33K (out of warranty but "covered" since two days earlier I had tie rods replaced; either dealer's fault or dealer was feeling sorry for me) - Mar '02 - brake rotors

Not covered:
33K - Mar '02 - tie rods - $222

All I can think of for now, there might have been more. Between my dad's Windstar and my Tour we practically drop one off at the dealer every three weeks. Dad's front end fell last weekend so I've got another month till something else goes wrong with my car. (crossing fingers)

My first Contour, '95 GL, 4 cyl.,mtx....
(bought used with 33k on it)

33,500k...speedometer replaced (warranty)

68,000k?...headgasket blew (warranty)

70,000k?...some internal wiring/switch stuck open
($ 226.00)
84,500k?...both front coil springs broke (recall)
(everything else was general maintanence stuff)

My second Contour, 2000 SE, 4cyl. atx...
(bought used 11/8/01 with 25,610k on clock)

27,000k...dash repair (recall)

and that is all....woo-hoo... laugh

78,500 on the odo right now
problems
back left rotor replaced twice under warranty
other than that not a dang problem
(Me knock on wood several times)

THe only problem I ever had was the PS Pump which was replaced under warranty in about as much time as it took me to walk home from the dealership... man that was a great car! smile

not counting recalls...

106,000 miles
new engine at 74k, probably oil starvation BS
new front rotors at 48k. badly warped
waterpump at 68k
sensors a few times
alternator twice
intake glogged with gunk two times

99 SE Sport ATX 33k Miles

Except for dash peeling up (Don't know if I want the dealer messing with it) and melted Fog Lamps (My fault)...No problems (Knock on wood)

unexpected problems:
cassette deck not working @ 17,000 miles, warranty
rear shocks replaced @ 23,000 miles, warranty
clutch replaced @ 23,000 miles, warranty
warped rotors @ 23,000 miles, $210
bad battery @ 37,000 miles, $50
front driver's wheel bearing @ 45,000 miles, $400
dash vent broke @ 55,000 miles, not fixed
bad battery @ 62,000 miles, $50
water pump bolt broke in engine while at dealer @ 80,000 miles, $400 to extract stud and rethread

problems from my meddling:
rusted rear sway bar bracket bolt (broke inside subframe) @ 95,000 miles, $15 for parts
rusted front sway bar link (stud broke) @ 104,000 miles, $15 for parts

maintanance issues:
timing belt replacement @ 80,000 miles, $200
water pump replacement @ 80,000 miles, $200
rear sway bar bushings @ 95,000 miles, $40

and several recalls performed (or so the dealers say)
