I will buy a hybrid as soon as they outperform a regular gas engine, especially since they have the potential to do just that. Honda's accord is heading that way and is garnering great reviews. If I wanted the best gas mileage for a commute, I'd buy a 3 cylinder suzuki swift or what used to be called the Geo/Chevy Metro. Those things with an MTX got 50 MPG in the early ninety's.
