OP Tony24 Newbie T Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 4	My 98 countour se Putt Putts every now and then when at a steady speed like 55 kinda jumps just a lil like its misfiring what could it be? Kinda like the engine wants to cut out but short spirts.

chongo Hard-core CEG\'er C Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 2,017 Toronto, Canada	you could search for this, but try checking...... plugs, wires, coil, fuel filter, dirty MAF, IAC, fuel pump, plugged cats, etc...... Do you have a check engine light on? I see you have and SE assuming it has the V6, but is it Auto or Manual trans? Have you done any mods lately affecting the engine in anyway? OP Tony24 Newbie T Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 4	Its a 4 and i have done no mods at all. and its a auto no check engine light and i changed the plugs not long ago with double plats and new wires. no probs if i hit the gas but only normaly when maintaing speed. Last edited by Tony24; 04/03/05 04:01 AM.

My friends SVT did the exact same thing and he couldn't figure out what it was. Turned out to be a stupid vacuum leak. Different engine, but check all your hoses. Tony 1998 SVT Contour (B/MB) #542 3L 1998 SVT Contour (SF/MB) #1266 parts car 2000 SVT Contour (SF/MB) #1533 3L swap to begin!

Dan K G. New CEG\'er D Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 10 PA	I have had the same problem with my 2000 'tour for over 2yrs. I have tried to explan it over and over to my dealership with no fix what so ever!!! I tried plugs and wires with no luck. The dealer replaced the every sensor on the car except the EGR and O2 sensors. Still runs the same but I'm getting 30+ MPG. Mine also "stumbles" when you slow down to around 35-40 mph for a on/off ramp-annoying as hell!!!Does yours??? Maybe if you can fix yours it would help me out too.

Those Bosch plugs are junk....stick with the Autolites- I know from trial and error that they suck.
