They say that they can check to see what's up inside the transmission by hooking it up to a computer for free? I just want to know what it is exactly that is broken and what needs to be fixed. I know that the general consensus is that the torque converter and valve body are the culprits but I want to be 99.999% certain that a certain part is broken so I can go out and buy it and replace it. Thanks.
"A diagnostic test will show that the TCC is slipping/not engageing. At this point they will have to take pressure tests from the valve body, which will show the extent of the damage and verify the condition. They may or may not charge for this. I know Cottmans won't, but that is besides the point. At this point, they will see that the fluid pressure within this port is below spec and will suggest either a complete rebuild (which is fine) or a replacment with a remainufactored tranny."
Kevin, I really feel your pain my friend. Anything we can do to help, as for advice or suggestions... that is what we are here for.
I had the same problem with mine when it failed. But mine was compounded with another hydrualic circuit being cut off as well. Actually, it was the fluid return, which lubes the differential. My 1744 did not actually kill my tranny though, it was the latter. My diff ran dry and... ker plunk, klank, grind!
