Make sure you have a good way to travel with it. I don't carry mine around with me anymore even though I am abroad. My old passport went through three Italian summers, three German summers, and one Austrian winter and didn't hold up very well. I got to London and they almost didn't let me in because of how bad of shape my passport was in. The photo page had bubbled up and looked like I had faked my own passport. I still don't have a good way to carry it so I don't unless I am leaving Austria.
