I saw this oil pan quick drain kit at Walmart made by Fram and was wondering if anyone has purchased it.
Its expensive at about $15 a pop, but looks like it will make oil changes a lot easier and without the usual mess.

I got one from Autobarn. Still sitting on my workbench. It'll go in at the next oil change.

The bits look like they are of good quality, I especialy like the screw-on dust cover with the O-ring seal.

If you guys are going to get one of these beware of your Y-pipe... the heatshield causes a serious problem in trying to get the dust cap on.

Also, don't get the Fram POS... Aeroquip makes an even better one that uses a quick disconnect hose and it much higher quality.

QUICK-DRAIN oil pan coupling: Eaton introduces the quick, clean, and high-tech way to change oil. It's easy to connect; there's no drain plug to remove. QUICK-DRAIN eliminates the potential of oil spillage because it drains directly into the waste-oil container.

The plug end costs about $20, its made out of billet aluminum/stainless steel, The O-Ring's are replaceable.
The drain end is also made out of the same materials and uses an "air hose" style disconnect so there is no need to screw on the drain. Cost on the drain piece is like $20 PLus the cost of what ever hose you pit on it.

Yeah it is more expensive, but you are going to get what you pay for.

I dont know about you guys but when changing the oil, the oilpan drain plug isn't the messy part of it. It's taking the oil filter off.

What do you really gain for the money with this? It's still going to be messy.

my major gripe about the oil plug is after the flow drops off, you get that tiny stream of oil that splatters everywhere if even the slightest breeze catches it...If I had a garage I could work in, I wouldn't care, but since I have to do it in my driveway, having it drain through a hose directly into my oil catch pan would make my life that m uch easier. Not to mention someone overtightened my plug and broke the edges off it so it's gotta be replaced anyway...

so about $50, and no more messiness - at least for half of the oil change. Tempting, just to keep things a little neater. Now if we can find someone to make a car-flipping device for when we need to remove the oil filter, now that would be somethin. Of course, I want a toilet made of gold, but thats just not in the cards, now is it?
