The filter is the messiest part, but I also usually drop the drain plug into the pan!
As far as the filter is concerned, I loosen it and position the drain to catch the drippings for a few minutes. After the flow stops, I take it off. It minimizes the mess this way.

that fumoto thing looks cool. i've been tempted to buy a quick drain type of plug, but i'm worried about how it sticks out from the oil pan. if you were in a bad situation, and couldn't avoid running over something, it seems like it would be the first thing to rip out. anyone have pictures of any of these things installed?

I got to say I'm leaning towards Eaton's one. It seems smaller and less probable to accidentally open, no dig towards fuomotvalve.

But which size do we order? And the Replacement Gasket? I am just about to do oil changes on both my rides and want to do this.
