Klavender, things are not always so black and white (no pun intended).
Consider the situations of convicts who later were cleared by DNA evidence. We'd assume the prosecutors were champions of truth, justice and morals when they got the convictions... but when it turns out they got convictions against innocent people in those cases, and the criminal defense attorneys were really right all along, then what?
As a juror, I watched a DA get a conviction against a scumbag who was technically innocent of the charges brought but guilty of being a junkie, and several jurors voted to convict him so he would get treatment in prison.
See if you can locate 2 old movies, the original "12 Angry Men" and "Gideon's Trumpet," on the topics of "beyond a reasonable doubt" and "the right to an attorney."
Your question IS still a good one; I think OJ did it; and because of questions like yours, I do NOT practice criminal defense. But I'd guess the prosecutors and defenders both convince themselves they are fulfilling important and necessary roles provided by our constitution, and they'd be correct. To them, that's moral.

and what exactly did he lie about?? Many defense attorneys, especially the public defenders, do their jobs because they believe that everyone deserves a fair trial and representation, regardless of their innocence.
if i were a defense attorney, i wouldnt want to defend scumbags either, but i would want to defend those who are in fact innocent. how are supposed to determine who is who? obviously in a case like this, its a little easier, but im just talking about the average everday criminal case.
as my professor always says, "everybody hates lawyers until they need one"
RIP Cochran

Believe me, when you are sitting in front of that judge, there is nothing more comforting than having a Lawyer you can count on...
RIP Johnnie!
In the final analysis Cochran sacrificed moral character for financial gain, oh the irony.

I'm sure you have proof of this right?

That basically what I meant. I don't think it's morally wrong to be a lawyer and do your job. You can still take a case where you know he is guilty and try to prove him innocent, thus my point. And different people have different ideas on what is moral, I understand that. I think we can all agree on basic morality though. As in it is wrong to kill in cold blood. My sympathy does extend to his family, just not to him.
