I was hoping someone had pics of what mustang wheels look like on a Contique, in terms of how far they stick out.
I know everyone strongly believes that this look is ugly, but I have yet to see how they look for myself.
The reason I am considering it is that I saw a Grand Am GT on the road the other day, which must have had spacers to push the wheels out. It was not extreme, just about an extra inch out, but it gave the car a really tough look.
How extreme would the mustangs offset be?
Does anyone have any pics?
Thanks!

He's talking about the older, FOx-body mustang w/ the 4-lug setup. I've never seen fox mustang wheels on a Contour, but I have seen them on an XR4Ti, and I've seen contour wheels on an XR4Ti . . .
Honestly I think they would look odd on a contour, not to mention the negative effects on the handling of the car and the durability of the hubs/wheel bearings.

i tried one 17x9 cobra R rims from my 89 5.0 25th Anniv. Stang GT on the passanger side and it fit. Took the car off the jack and no rubbing however i did not drive w/ it. I didnt think I really liked the look of the chrome on the SF SVT anyway. But the wheels stick out id say aprox 1/2 to 1 inch past the wheel well. It doesnt look like some reverse daytons by a long shot, however, it does look like it would throw alot of sh!t up onto your car and kill your paint. Another reason why i didnt drive w/ them.

Aside from looking like a choto, you'll WRECK the wheel bearings fast, as well as the paint.
The LLP (load Line Position) with the mustang wheels will shift all the load onto the outboard race of the wheel bearings which will fail them quickly.

i have a pic of the Cobra R wheels on a red w/ silver and light blue flames contour SVT. The wheels dont seem to stick out at all on the pic so im thinking he is running a slightly less wide whell that the standard 9in wide Cobra R's.you can buy knockoffs in any mustang mag. Anyway the Cobra R's look amazing on the 87-93 stang GT 5.0's but on the contour there is a little to much "bling factor" I personally didnt like the chrome w/ the Silver Frost paint combo. But aparently he owner of that car is going 4 the bling w/ his paint job anyway. I would post the pics if i knew how...but they are in "my pics" folder and not on a website so your SOL p.s. the stock 5 star SVT wheels are the same design as the Cobra R's but the Cobras are just an inch bigger and 2 inches wider. If you got knockoffs that are 17x7.5 or 18x7.5 in silver that would look good if you want the stock look but bigger.

Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention that.
I like the look of the stock CSVT wheels, only i would like that look in a larger size. 18 preferably.
I get what you guys are saying, I know that the wheels are a compromise in terms of the wear and tear they will add to the car, in exchange for looks. But other than the discontinued Surpurior Scoundrels, I have found it difficult to find a five spoke wheels that has a "tough American look" akin to a muscle car, and not a Tuner Import image.
