I finally bought a inside trunk release bezel from a '96 Contour from the local salvage yard. I had no idea that both the hole and the bracket the bezel slides upon was already on my '00 SE. All I had to do is trim some of the carpet away and then install the bezel. It looks a lot better that just the release handle sticking up through the carpet. All I've got to say is that Ford really got cheap with later Contours. My factory floor mats are even cut to fit around the bezel. Definitely recommended!!

Not sure if the 98.0 Contour's have them or not, I don't think so. I just ordered one for a 98.0 Mystique, 'cause that's what my old car was (they were the most contented of all the post 97 redesigned contiques).

SOrry, could someone explain what you mean by the trunk bezel? is that the pull knob for the fold down seats, or is it related to the spare tire setup? or is it something that enables you to release the trunk from inside the trunk??ha? the last one you say??

Its beside your drivers seat on the left on the floor,its the plastic piece that goes around the trunk release lever.

I have that in my 98 Mystique, what does it look like after 98?
Is it just the handle sticking out of the carpet?
