You could run an SVT or 3L with OBD-I

There is a little more modification work required then a normal swap of each respective type but nothing major.

The biggest fab work I can think of off the top of my head is the fuel rail work to run the new style injectors. You can't "safely" run your stock 17's on an SVT or 3L engine.

This work has been covered many times as folks have switched to the SVT or RLIM before.

would the ECU from the SVT work on my car? or i'll have to get a chip.
the fuel rail wouldn't be a problem. electronics will be if i have to go there.

You will have to get a custom tuned chip.

Post 98's have PATS. That's the problem with running them in a pre98. Among other things. You'd need the entire harness also.

I think PATS is optional on pedestrian contours so u have to be mindful of that. then there is a differemce from 99 to 00 related to the return/less fuel system which was discussed above. other than that I don't expect any difference between SVT and regular MTX harness.
