Personally I would RMA it ... you'll probably get a bigger drive back in return.

It's one of two things ... driver issue, in which case try removing it and reinstalling it after a couple of reboots, or alternatively a hardware issue. Shouldn't be BIOS related as once you're past boot XP over-rules it (for drives).

Try testing it on your 2nd IDE channel too.
