Who has a bra on their 'Tour or 'Tique? Is it worth it? Any problems? Aesthetic value only?

Bad things:
- clear coat flaking off!
- timing chain going
- idler pulley defunct
- rack and pinion going bleh
- Ford dealerships

I wouldn't put a bra on my Tour! Yes, the front part of your car will get little scratch, but so what? I personally think it looks worse putting something over it than having scratches over it.

Marty, what color is your ride? I have a LeBra on my black 97 Sport, and people say it looks nice. Of course, black-on-black isn't a radical change. If my car was a different color, I might have decided against it. It does protect your front end against chips and scratches, but the downside is possible paint fading. The paint under the bra won't fade with the rest of your car. So after a couple years, it looks funny when you take it off. You should almost think of it as a permanent thing.
In the climate I live in, the protectant factor outweighs the paint fade factor. And I like how it looks.

I own a Dark Green 1995 Mystique. I'm not sure if paint fading will be an issue. I'm tired of repairing little nicks and dings after every trip on our 400 series highways up here in Ontario. I use a paint stick from 3-M. I've got some cool graphics which will adhere to the bra nicely. What about underside paint scratching from the bra?

Front end bras or masks are not intended to be installed permanently onto a vehicle. Nor are they intended to be an esthetic enhancement for a vehicle.
They are to be used as intended, that being to temporarily protect the front end of a vehicle from receiving nicks & other damage from road going debris. Such debris would include stones, rocks, gravel or other objects flung upon a vehicle from the vehicle in front of it. This is particularly true of interstates where semi-trucks, busses & other large conveyances are notorious for kicking up large debris that can cause significant damage due to the velocity this debris can travel.
I use my own front end bra/mask only on long trips via highways or interstates. I remove it immediately upon arrival at my destination, reinstall for the return trip & remove it once again upon arriving home.
All the manufacturers & dealers specifically recommend that the bra/mask NOT be left on the vehicle for any significant amount of time, especially permanently. And it should definitely be removed whenever it rains so that moisture does not collect & dry under the bra/mask which could damage the paint.
Is it a fanatical owner who only uses one? No more so than an owner (me) who uses a car cover every day when my Contour has to sit outside at work.

I have a Bra on my little Teal beauty (and so does my bro) & I think it looks GREAT with it on . So it takes an extra minute to remove & clean when I wash the car , but who cares ! Isn't my 'tour worth the extra minute ??? Besides I have no chips or scratches on my nose either . It's there for the protection and the looks (it's a great contrast) . If you take the time to clean under it & wax the car regularly you'll have NO problems !! I'd say if you want one GET IT !! Don't be afraid of the extra minute's work . I've had mine on for years & am suffering no paint fade either .

Well after all is said and done...I'm going to return the bra I bought today. It was really cheaply made and I know won't last the year. It was made by LeBra but had a different make stamped on the box. I can't believe how poorly made this was. My bra on my 1990 Sunbird SE was way better! In fact, the Sunbird bra outlasted the car! Any leads on better made bras? Not the ones with plastic attachments or Jennifer Lopez's for that matter. Whoa Baby!!

The Bra on my car is a LeBra unit (bought my bro's bra at the same time) & I think it's very well made . I've had it for a few years & still fits good . Back when I got it , there were none around & I had to special order it (pretty pricey )& they made it from patterns per order . Now I see more & more with bras on them . Mine also has no LeBra stamping on it (I think because of the made to order situation) , which I found a bit strange , but OK with me .
Maybe you got a bad one that slipped by the Q.C. guys . Maybe you should return it & buy one from another store . I've had several LeBra bras & they've always been a quality product . This one cost me quite a bit more than the others , but my 'Tour is worth it !
Good luck !

ahhhh i can't think of the damn name...

when i ordered a few things from KKM the other week, the dude on the phone told me he would give me a free bra. i said, what the hell, thanks! well it came, and it is small and subtle, and i like it a lot. it protects the front 12 or 15 inches of the hood. just cant think of the damn company that makes it...

also, on the box it came in, it said it was for a contour, so it fits perfectly with the curves of the hood...
