My front drivers side wheel bearing is shot. How much did it cost you guys to replace your wheel bearings? I found front bearings from Advance auto for $45, and I think I'll do both at the same time (preventitive maintenence?). Anyone know how much I should pay for labor to do one, or both?

If your getting new bearing get them from Ford. You should exspect to pay about 400 to get both done. You might want to look at the front lower control arms as well.

So far, I've been getting quotes for ~$250 to replace both bearings, includes parts. sounds like I've got a deal!
BTW, I think I'm going to buy wheel bearings from Chicago Rawhide. They have a 2 year warranty on them, and I can get them for $45/piece. I checked on labor for it, and it's $152.00 for labor. So I'm still at about $250 for the job and I know I'm getting good bearings out of the deal.
Anyone heard of Chicago Rawhide? Sounds like they're a decent company....

todras, I really don't want to know about your butt! :p
Anyway, mine cost $200 a side, but were covered under the extended warranty.

My left front bearing went at 53,000. The dealer didn't charge me for the part, but charged $81.02 for the labor. I'm not sure how they arrived at that figure since the ESP plan I had covered the bearings but had a $100 deductible. Out of curiosity, how much do dealers charge per hour where you are? Here locally its $60-62/per hour at the Ford dealerships. (One of the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealers charges $76! )

jward, that is about what my dealer**** charges, but I dont' go there I find a trusty little shop, where the guys are cool, and they want my business and to take care of the customer. Usually, they're willing to make you some deals when you do a couple things at once, or at least give you honest advice. rain, I can't be ABSOLUTELY positive it's my bearings without getting in there and looking at them, but i'm 95% sure it is. I took on on-ramp to I-75 really fast and hard, riding the limits of the tires all the way around until merge, and ever since then, when i turn right (it was a long right turn on ramp) at ~50-60MPH, there is a rubbing/moaning noise coming from the front drivers side. I can feel it a little in the steering wheel too. Classic symptoms of a bad wheel bearing. I'm replacing both front bearings at once to save on labor (i hope), and because I figure that if one bearing is going, the other probably is too.
