I added nothing , along with many others that did this mod in the past . Maybe Ford recently changed the switch ?

you have to add a wire to the switch, it isn't there to begin with, at least in my car ...

the how to says you add a wire to pin #4

pre 98 window switch

sunroof switch

as you can see pins 4 and 5 are used for the for powering the light, pin 4 is the ground and pin 5 is the power. you can use the power wire in the harness for power and I connected the ground like it said in teh how to

No no no ... what I meant by "I added nothing" was "I added nothing more than what the How-To called for" . I added the D79 connector to "pin 4" , connected to the black wire in the overhead light (just like in the How-To) .
Do the "new" lighted moonroof switches have 7 pins ?? Mine only had the 6 , like in the How-To (part #F8RZ-14529-AA) .

Sorry for the confusion on my part .

don't worry about it, partly my mistake also

don't forget the images I posted are for the pre 98

post 98 switches should have 6 pins, it seems the light gets its power internally from the switch and not the outside like the pre 98, but I bet that has something to do with the lights being an option in the light package on pre 98s

What would be the part number for the post 98 switch? I got mine to work, but I must be using the wrong wire for power because the switch stays lit whether the ignition is on or not.

Dumb question, I just saw the answer. The pre 98 switch (the one I have is F5RZ-14529-A). The one I should get is F8RZ-14529-A (post 98).
