I had previously seen the "new look" of the oval-port plastic plenum on the new Five Hundred and Montego and didn't think much of it, but sparked by another, I looked up the pricing. The Five Hundred/Montego "new look" plenum is $120 MORE than the standard "old look" one. Anyone have any ideas as to what Ford did to warrant a $120 price hike other than some funky ribbing?

Meh realized this after the edit timer expired. Looked up the supposed output of this engine:
203 BHP @ 5750 RPM 207 ft-lbs @ 4500 RPM
Funky I say.. compared to:
Mazda6 3.0L 220 BHP @ 6000 RPM 192 ft-lbs @ 5000 RPM
01+ Taurus 3.0L 200 BHP @ 5500 RPM 195 ft-lbs @ 4700 RPM
The Five Hundred/Montego engine looks nothing more special than a standard 3.0L, it lacks the variable valve timing of the Mazda 3.0L and coil-on-plug ignition. Yet it boasts a nicer mid-range torque figure.
Perhaps a new set of cams to investigate or is this change in power simply from the intake? A million questions and no answers.

It's possible that the intake could be responsible, but probably not the new plenum by itself. They tune the whole intake system to work together. I'm guessing the played with the computer code to fatten up the midrange on a larger car so it doesn't feel slow.
I've never seen any Mazda6 stock dyno that was that much better than a stock 2.5 SVT dyno, so I don't think much of any of the intake systems shown above. The basic SVT pcm, cams and intake system on any motor are still the best factory power adding parts around that I can see.
I'd be interested to get the cam specs for the Jaguar 3.0 and 2.5L though.
Anyone know those??? Procyon?????

It's connected to the engine and to then braced to the front strut tower brace ... I would assume it's a roll resistor.

I thought that was a roll resistor, but it seemed like an odd spot for it.

If I had room I'd take that bracing bar and the restrictor. Easy to work on too.
