Taylor MI is not the sticks, nor does it get to -50°F. And lets just say that the demographic isn't exactly putting Taylor into "The Safest Cities in the US" list. They down call it Taylor-tucky for nothing.

we install them at my work (futureshop which is owned by bestbuy)but we dont sell them lol..you have to get a special starter.. one that is ment for 5 speeds. when they install them thay put in a secnsor... if its in 1st it wont start... also they hook it up to the ebrake and if the ebrake is not on...it wont start. but if it is in any other gear but 1 it will try to start. so u have to leave it in nutral.

you dont need to tape your key to the column, you just need the proper bypass...they can be purchased for as little as 13$ and up.
I have the viper791 in my svt, but ill only start it when im looking at the car in my driveway...no where else.

bypass or key - either way, I don't want to LOWER the security of my car by enabling the remote start/defeating the PATS system.
They can steal stuff from inside or outm and vandalise my car all they want (if I don't shoot them in the process) but they will NEVER get the satisfaction of driving it away and knowing what a Turbo SVT feels like at 10psi!

people come on now, all it takes is a little research. I have a 791 and am going to install it within in the month. I have an SVT so, obviously MTX. I'm living in akron, its ghetto and high crime rate. So I am very concerned with theft problems, and is the reason i bought the alarm in the first place. DEI makes a PATS bypass its called a 555F (20-30 bones). To install you locate the little sensor thing (LOL ok not so smart on that part) in your column near the keyhole. You need two PATS keys to activate this for the first time. It allows the Viper system to bypass the PATS, however leaves the PATS system completely intact. If you are worried about this consider this. You have a 98-2000 ford contour, you aren't exactly highest on the list of smart car theives. Also, even with the car running the alarm is still armed and has to be deactivated before you can drive the car. If any sensor is tripped, the car shuts off and the starter kill is activated. So no worries. One last thing. I want remote start but I know I'm too absent minded to never leave the car in gear. I found this product.. Neutral Safety Bypass bottom of page It works as such. First you have to have the e-brake set, then you have have the remote start set to run, then when you take the key out the car stays running until you close the door, then the car turns off. Therefore its impossible for you to leave it in gear unless you jumped out of a moving vehicle. If any door is opened the system kills the ability to remote start. Seems simple dosen't it. I'm looking into a way to have my viper do the same thing without the $70 NSS that peripheral sells. Hope that helps, sorry this was like 90 pages long.

I used to work at horizon audio/motorsports in canton, OH. THe one that we sold was as follows:
R/S Unit was like 260 some dollars "U" bypass module was an addt'l 50 dollars (uses kay under dash)
In order to get you car started in the morning you had to: put the car in neutral pull ebrake turn key (the engine still runs) get out and close door lock/kill engine/arm
-- if at any time you get in you car for anything, you have to do that complete process all over again or it won't start in the morning.
IMO, that's a lot of work just to be able to push a button to get your car started in the morning; but on the other hand, it might be worth in in the extreme northern states and canada...

It's not that cold up here!!!
Also if you are worried about the clutch bypass, an easy, and very cheap way to bypass it is to take a voltage meter and measure the voltages on the two wires going into the sensor, then press the clutch in and measure the voltages again. One should be +5V and the other should be less. Then take the voltage difference and work out the size of resistor needed. Cut the sensor out and replace it with the resistor. Done. Although you probably wouldn't be able to use your cruise control anymore, cause the clutch is supposed to deactivate it when pressed.

I've got one in mine. It's from a Canadian company called Astro. Yeah, just like the Jetson's dog. I have to put it in neutral while holding the brake on. I then pull the e-brake twice and it sets itself. When I get out and shut the door, the engine shuts off. The procedure prevents me from leaving it in gear. It also tries to start 3 times and if no luck, it stops. It also shuts off after 15 minutes. It's great in the winter.
