inspection fees on manual transaxles for this car should run a tenth of that (expect to pay about 300-450 for removal and replacement regardless of whether or not you fix it..

Then you factor in whatever parts you need, and the labor to install those INTO your transmission.


I would check your two shifter linkages.


Open the hood, and look down in to the engine, on the driver's side, between the airbox and the firewall for both of those cables that were mentioned to be going in to the bellhousing of the tranny... have a friend move the shifter and see if both move freely..


How does the shifter feel? SLOPPY?? stuck in fourth and HARD.. stuck in fourth gear even if you put the shifter in to the first slot?
